Reviewer verdict
Across 6 YouTube reviews, the Pioneer VSX-LX505 earns an Index score of 4.5/5, ranking #17 among AV Receivers. Reviewers most often praise its features, value for money, connectivity, while the most common criticisms concern connectivity, power/performance.
The Pioneer VSX-LX505 is repeatedly praised for its feature set, with multiple reviewers noting extensive channel support (11-channel pre-outs, scalable to 11.1 and able to run 7.1.4) and modern video/gaming features like Dolby Vision, 8K compatibility, and HDMI 2.1 enhancements. Reviewers also highlight built-in room correction (Direct Live) and immersive audio options including Dolby Atmos height virtualization and DTS upscaling, often saying these advanced features come bundled without extra cost. Several reviewers point to strong connectivity and streaming options (Chromecast, AirPlay 2, Sonos compatibility, aptX HD Bluetooth) and generally good power and sound performance for the price. Overall praise is consistent across the six reviews, with the largest clusters of positive comments around features, value, and connectivity.
Criticisms are less frequent but consistent in a few areas: HDMI 2.1 implementation limits full 40 Gbps 4K support to three of the six inputs, and network audio via Roon is restricted to Chromecast or AirPlay endpoint resolutions. A minority of reviewers raised concerns about long-term reliability and comparative longevity versus some competitors, and one reviewer noted the unit lacks 32-bit DACs. These complaints appeared across the six reviews but with far fewer mentions than the positives.
