Viper VP4300 Lite

Reviewer verdict

Across 17 YouTube reviews, the Patriot Viper VP4300 Lite earns an Index score of 4/5, ranking #30 among SSDs. Reviewers most often praise its performance, features, compatibility, while the most common criticisms concern features, performance.

Reviewers say the Viper VP4300 Lite delivers consistently top-tier performance, repeatedly highlighting very high sequential read and write speeds and frequent praise for gaming and everyday smoothness (mentioned in about two thirds of pros). Many note stable, near-declared transfers and sustained throughput with good temperature behavior, and several reviewers call it one of the fastest M.2 NVMe drives they've tested. Additional recurring positives include useful features bundled by Patriot (two heatsinks/thermal pads and an aluminum/graphene heat shield) and broad compatibility with PCIe 4.0 systems and the PS5, with price and warranty/support also frequently seen as favourable.

Criticisms cluster around the VP4300 Lite being a DRAM-less, lower-feature “light” model and the impacts that has on some workloads, with reviewers reporting performance drops during sustained or mixed read/write tests and after the drive fills (these performance concerns appear in many of the cons). Several reviewers also called out the basic packaging and questioned the controller and feature compromises versus higher-end models, and a minority reported higher peak temperatures or limited suitability as a Windows/system disk or for very demanding continuous-write/database use cases.
