The Raider GE78 HX (2024) is repeatedly praised for its top-tier performance, with reviewers across many videos noting powerful Intel Core i9 processors and high-end NVIDIA laptop GPUs that deliver exceptional gaming and content-creation performance (performance mentions are the most frequent). Reviewers also consistently applaud the redesigned, robust build and advanced Cooler Boost 5 cooling system with multiple fans and heat pipes that keeps thermals in check. The 17-inch QHD+ 240 Hz display and high color accuracy get frequent positive mentions for vibrant colors, high refresh rate, and strong brightness. Other commonly noted strengths include a comfortable SteelSeries keyboard and large, responsive touchpad, plentiful ports including Thunderbolt 4, ample DDR5 memory and fast PCIe SSD storage, and an impressive six-speaker audio system in many configurations.

Critics most often point to the Raider GE78 HX’s bulky, heavy chassis and limited portability, with many reviewers noting the unit’s weight and large charger as drawbacks. Loud fan noise and high operating temperatures under load are a common complaint, alongside some build compromises such as plastic base parts, small fragile clips, and mixed webcam quality. Several reviewers also call out inconsistent display variants (some models with poorer panels or backlight bleed), relatively average battery life compared with expectations for a premium laptop, and a steep price positioning that some consider expensive for what you get. A few reviewers mention software clutter and mediocre speakers on certain SKUs as additional negatives.
