Reviewer verdict

Across 10 YouTube reviews, the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 8 earns an Index score of 4/5, ranking #30 among Bluetooth Speakers. Reviewers most often praise its sound quality, features, design, while the most common criticisms concern sound quality, battery life.

The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 8 is widely praised for its strong, refined sound quality, with 29 mentions highlighting deep, present bass, clear mids and crisp highs and a wide soundstage driven by a 5-inch/120 mm woofer and multiple tweeters and passive radiators. Reviewers frequently note useful built-in features (28 mentions) such as Bluetooth 5.2/5.3 streaming, self-tuning/automatic room calibration, multi-device pairing, a built-in microphone for calls, firmware updates via the app, and convenient onboard controls. Its design and build receive broad approval (25 mentions) for a premium, eco-conscious aesthetic with an anodized aluminum ring handle, recycled fabric grille, and solid build that doubles as a stable base. Several reviewers also call out reasonable battery life and portability features, with roughly nine mentions citing about eight hours of playback and mains/battery flexibility.

Criticisms are fewer but consistent: several reviewers (8 mentions) find the sound either too bass-heavy for some tastes or lacking the deepest punch compared with subwoofer-equipped systems, and some note limitations in stereo accuracy or lower-end extension. Battery life (7 mentions) is repeatedly called out as only about eight hours with a roughly five-hour charge time, unchanged from previous generations and shorter than some competitors. Portability is questioned by multiple reviewers (6 mentions) who point to the speaker’s heft (around 3.4–3.6 kg) and integrated power supply adding weight, and a few reviewers note the lack of IP water/dust protection and missing codec/compatibility features. A couple of reviewers also observe incremental upgrades and a higher price relative to the prior model.
