Reviewer verdict

Across 18 YouTube reviews, the OnePlus Nord 5 earns an Index score of 4/5, ranking #32 among Smartphones. Reviewers most often praise its camera, display, performance, while the most common criticisms concern camera, design and build.

The Nord 5 is repeatedly praised for its strong performance, with around half of reviewers highlighting the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 chipset, high frame rates in gaming, and an advanced vapor chamber cooling system that keeps the phone relatively cool during extended use. Reviewers also commonly commend the large, bright AMOLED display with high refresh rates (120–144 Hz), good outdoor legibility, and fast touch response. The camera system, especially the upgraded front camera and 4K video capabilities, is frequently noted as a meaningful improvement for selfies and vlogging. Reviewers additionally like OxygenOS 15 and long software support, the solid two-day battery life with 80W fast charging, and a premium-feeling design and build quality with IP65 resistance mentioned by multiple reviewers.

Criticism clusters around the camera package (notably a weak 8 MP ultrawide, lack of telephoto, inconsistent colors and limited low-light/zoom performance), which many reviewers find mediocre despite improvements elsewhere. Several reviewers also call out design and build trade-offs — losing the alert slider, moving to glass back and plastic frame, and only IP65 water protection — making the phone feel less distinctive. Performance and software notes include occasional UI stutters, aggressive background app killing, warming under load, and weaker haptics; audio and display complaints include a downgrade to a single bottom speaker and the removal of an always-on display. Battery and charging draw some gripes too, mainly that charging is 80W not 100W and there is no wireless charging.
