Reviewer verdict

Across 25 YouTube reviews, the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 earns an Index score of 3.9/5, ranking #32 among Gaming PCs & Laptops. Reviewers most often praise its build quality, performance, display, while the most common criticisms concern connectivity, build quality.

The Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 is repeatedly praised for strong performance, with many reviewers highlighting high-end CPUs, Nvidia GeForce 40-series GPUs, and ample DDR5 RAM and SSD capacity resulting in excellent gaming and productivity frame rates; roughly 44 pros reference performance-related strengths. Reviewers also widely compliment the improved build and portability — a slimmer, sturdier metal chassis with tight hinges and a more compact footprint — reflected in about 42 build-quality mentions. The display and keyboard receive frequent positive notes (around 41 and 28 mentions respectively), with reviewers valuing the high-refresh, color-accurate 16-inch panels and a comfortable ThinkPad-influenced keyboard and roomy trackpad. Cooling, connectivity, battery life, and software/AI features are other noted strengths, with many commenters pointing to Lenovo’s Coldfront thermal system, plentiful ports, fast-charge battery technology, and AI-driven performance tuning as useful additions.

Criticisms center on connectivity trade-offs and missing modern ports: reviewers frequently note absent or limited SD card readers, Thunderbolt/USB‑C power features, and some side-only port placements (about 31 cons on connectivity). Build and portability draw mixed comments too, with roughly 22 negatives mentioning plastic components, weight, and occasional flex despite an overall solid chassis. Battery life and cooling are recurring pain points for some reviewers (about 19 and 11 cons), who report limited unplugged runtimes and loud or high temperatures under sustained heavy load. Display and value receive smaller but consistent critiques, including disagreements over panel options/refresh rates and concerns about pricing or configuration choices.
