Reviewer verdict

Across 21 YouTube reviews, the Apple iPhone 16 Plus earns an Index score of 3.6/5, ranking #93 among Smartphones. Reviewers most often praise its design and build, camera, battery life, while the most common criticisms concern design and build, camera.

The iPhone 16 Plus is praised across reviews for its updated design and build, with many reviewers (63 mentions) highlighting new vibrant colorways, a lighter feel for its large display, improved ceramic Shield front, and handy new buttons like the action and camera control buttons. Reviewers frequently commend the cameras (46 mentions) — noting the 48MP main sensor, improved ultrawide with autofocus for macro shots, strong daylight and low-light results, and useful new camera features — and consistently call the base model’s camera system a standout for a non‑Pro iPhone. Battery life and endurance are repeatedly praised (31 mentions), with the larger 4,674 mAh cell and long screen-on times delivering all‑day use and sometimes outperforming Pro models in active use. Performance and software also get positive notes (28 and 23 mentions), with the new A18 chip and 8 GB RAM delivering snappy everyday performance and iOS 18 / Apple Intelligence features and customization seen as useful quality‑of‑life additions by multiple reviewers.

Criticism centers on camera limitations (27 mentions) despite hardware gains: reviewers find the new camera control interface finicky, miss a dedicated telephoto lens and stronger zoom, and note some missing pro video features. Design and build complaints are common (27 mentions) as well, including accidental clicks from the new side buttons, noticeable camera bump/table rocking, thicker bezels versus Pro models, and the phone’s large size making it awkward for some. Software and rollout of Apple Intelligence draw concern (23 mentions) because many features are buggy, region‑restricted or not available at launch, and reviewers call iOS 18’s new features not fully polished. Value and display tradeoffs are also flagged (22 and 21 mentions): reviewers question the price relative to incremental updates, and repeatedly note the lack of ProMotion/always‑on display (60 Hz) as a notable omission for this tier.
