Reviewer verdict

Across 27 YouTube reviews, the HyperX Cloud III earns an Index score of 3.8/5, ranking #27 among Gaming Headsets. Reviewers most often praise its comfort, sound quality, microphone quality, while the most common criticisms concern sound quality, microphone quality.

The HyperX Cloud III is widely praised for its sound quality and comfort, with reviewers frequently noting clear, balanced audio, good spatial imaging for gaming, and improved highs (mentioned across many reviews). Comfort is another dominant strength, with numerous reviewers highlighting the headset's very light weight, plush memory-foam/leatherette ear cushions, low clamping force, and suitability for long sessions. Reviewers also commonly commend practical features and battery life—detachable mic, on-head controls, long battery runtimes, built-in DTS on the S model, and simple, functional software were repeatedly mentioned. Build quality and connectivity options (USB-C, 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth on some models) are noted positively by a number of reviewers as well.

Criticisms cluster mainly around sound tuning and software/features: many reviewers call out weak or flat bass out of the box and find DTS:X/Spatial modes degrade imaging or produce unnatural, flattened audio. Comfort complaints appear less frequently but include limited earcup swivel, pleather that gets warm, and some clamping pressure for certain users. Microphone criticisms recur too—several reviewers find the mic quiet, lacking advanced noise cancellation or body, and internal mics only adequate for basic calls. A minority of reviewers also point to connectivity and software issues such as short cables, dongle-only wireless limitations, basic/buggy software, and feature omissions that affect value for some buyers.
