Cleaning Performance

Reviewer verdict

Across 30 YouTube reviews, the Dreame X40 Ultra earns an Index score of 4.3/5, ranking #24 among Robot Vacuums. Reviewers most often praise its cleaning performance, maintenance, navigation, while the most common criticisms concern maintenance, cleaning performance.

The X40 Ultra is widely praised for its strong cleaning performance, especially its ability to reach and clean edges and corners via extendable side brushes and mop extensions, with about three dozen reviewers noting edge/corner cleaning and many more praising vacuuming and mopping together. Reviewers frequently highlight excellent vacuum pickup on hard floors and carpets, robust mopping (including hot-water mop washing and mop rewash/air-dry capabilities), and effective carpet detection and suction boosting, with over fifty mentions of cleaning performance and dozens more on maintenance and navigation. Its self-maintaining base station and low-maintenance operation are commonly commended, including frequent mentions of hot-water mop cleaning, large disposable dust bag capacity, and anti-tangle brush technology (roughly 40+ maintenance mentions). Reviewers also report reliable navigation and mapping, long battery life, and rich app customization that make the unit easy to use and smart-feature rich across many tests and homes (multiple mentions across navigation, battery, app, and smart features).

Criticisms cluster around maintenance details and imperfect auto-cleaning: reviewers frequently note the dock and filters still need occasional cleaning, dust bag and dock designs could be smoother, and mop/dock drying or drain areas can remain wet (about 38 maintenance-related con mentions). Some reviewers reported occasional cleaning limitations — streaking, smearing on stubborn dried stains, imperfect edge/contact cleaning in certain spots, and inconsistent performance on the toughest stains (about two dozen cleaning-related con mentions). Navigation and smart features were sometimes flaky for a minority of reviewers, including mapping hiccups, missed areas or erratic paths, and AI/feature software needing updates. Price and perceived value were also a recurring concern for many reviewers, who called the X40 Ultra premium/expensive compared with expectations (multiple mentions in the value category).
